When we woke up this morning, the scene outside our hotel window looked perfect for the Winter Carnival: lots of snow. Unfortunately, the storm also brought with it high winds that nixed our previous plans to go cross-country skiing on the Plains of Abraham. So, we set off to explore Québec City’s Old Town, as well as two unique hotels in the region.

German beer sales dip slightly in 2011 German beer sales remained more or less steady in 2011, according to the Federal Statistics Office. While Germans themselves bought less German beer compared to 2010, beer drinkers abroad were saying 'Prost!'

9/30 Stuttgart Bahnhof Protest Gains Momentum
Mon, 08/30/2010 - 06:17 — WalterPolice used a cherry-picker crane Monday morning to pluck three demonstrators from the top of an earth-moving machine where they had been protesting against the controversial Stuttgart 21 rail project. The trio from the group Robin Wood had occupied the giant mechanical digger for five hours, delaying the demolition work on the historic Stuttgart train station. Tens of thousands of Stuttgarters have demonstrated over the past 10 days against the project.
The €4.1 billion Stuttgart 21 project aims to transform the city into an important European rail hub, making the city of 600,000 a key station on one of the longest high-speed lines in Europe, the 1,500-kilometre (930-mile)
